Artist Residency
An opportunity to step out of your daily life, into nature, and to focus primarily on your thoughts and your creative work. It’s the greatest gift an artist can give themselves. It’s also the single most difficult gift for an artist to give themselves.
Residencies range from two to six weeks. A fully furnished apartment and basic studio space are provided. There is no expectation to produce a product at Älskar House, though artists are encouraged to present work to the public at the end of their residency.
Residences at Älskar House are currently by invitation only.
Stall-dios
Part of what drew us to this property were the structures already in place. While we have no interest in owning horses, we are inspired by what this particular space could become. We’ve begun transforming three of the stalls, each into their own artist studio space that have their own power and plenty of 95CRI overhead lighting.
Writer’s Cabin
No distractions. Seriously. No internet. No cell service. As a writer, there is truly no greater gift you can give yourself than an opportunity to sit with your thoughts and your stories, uninterrupted. This smǒl cabin has a desk and a desk chair, an additional chair for lounging. A window that look into the woods. Electricity and heat. That’s it.
The Grounds
There are just shy of 60 acres. A meadow, a forest, a year-round brook, a pond, wetlands, a rough trail system, and oh so many birds and other animals. Nature is the inspiration here. What you choose to do with it, that’s on you.

At this time, artist residencies are by private invitation only. As we expand our infrastructure, we will open up further opportunities.

While we personally love all artistic practices, we are focused on inviting artists that can work within the infrastructure that we currently have in place. Drawing and painting. Writing. Musical Composition. Photography. Sculpture.

There is a fully appointed one bedroom carriage house apartment on the property. Water, power, and wi-fi are included.
